From the Director's Desk
Good Day! We keep moving through March at a quick pace. We had a few things to celebrate last week. First, Congratulations to our Varsity Winter Guard. They are the 2025 WGI Scholastic A West Power Regional Champions! This is the first WGI Regional our Winter Guard has won in 11 years. Congratulations!

Next, our Wind Ensemble did a fantastic job hosting the 15th annual San Joaquin Valley Concert Band Invitational. After welcoming 14 middle school and high school bands to our campus to perform in front of an extremely distinguished panel of adjudicators, we got to celebrate with a performance of our own. I was very, very, very proud of our students. The music selected was very challenging. Over the last month, there has been tremendous growth. I would consider last Friday’s performance one of the top 5 performances in the history of the Clovis North Wind Ensemble. It was extremely musical and mature. That was followed by a celebration of music from the Fresno State Wind Orchestra and a tribute to Dr. Gary P. Gilroy, who will be retiring at the end of the semester.
If you were unable to attend last Friday's concerts, here is the link to the page with each piece performed...
Our jazz bands finished out their third festival of the season at Fresno City College with outstanding performances as well. Our GR and CN Jazz Bands received superior ratings at ALL of their festivals this year.
Congratulations to all on a great week!!!

Wind Ensemble

We will now be turning to some new music, preparing for our chamber concert at the end of April, as well as our spring concert in the middle of May. I am really looking forward to working on this new music. We will feature Baylin Lamee on French Horn performing the Strauss Horn Concerto No. 1, and a very special performance of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue featuring one of my favorite musicians and colleagues, Mrs. Heather Bishop on the piano.
Color Guard

This Friday is SJVCGPR Championships at Clovis North. Please come and watch our JV Winter Guard as they are hoping to win their class as well as help send off our Varsity Winter Guard, as this will be their last performance in California before we get on a plane early Tuesday morning for our first visit to the WGI Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
