From the Director's Desk
Good Day! It’s been a while since we sent any information to you all. We are now wrapping up the school year while amping up for the next one. We have had such an amazing spring semester and so much to be proud of and thankful for.
Here is a little recap of March and April…
CN Wind Ensemble - received Unanimous Superiors @ CMEA & CUSD Festival, performed at the Fresno State Concert Band Festival, Music for All Regional Festival @ Cal State Long Beach, and did an amazing job hosting and performing at our 15th annual San Joaquin Valley Concert Band Invitational. Some of my favorite highlights were getting to clinics and the adjudicators asking, “What do you want me to work on?” As well as having the opportunity to have Col. Jason Fettig conduct Aegean Festival Overture with the band.
CN Concert Band - Received Superior ratings @ CMEA & CUSD Festivals. Some highlights were hearing improvements in all aspects of tone quality and intonation, and hearing soloists stand out and be more musical in their performance.
CN Varsity Winter Guard - What a season!!! SJVCGPR SA Champions, WGI San Diego 2nd Place, WGI Manhattan Beach 2nd place, WGI West Power Regional Champion, WGI World Championships Finalist, 4th place!!!! Again, what a season!!! My favorite memory of the season was our body warm-up time in the Dayton Arena before our Finals performance.
CN JV Winter Guard - In just the second time we have fielded a JV Winter Guard, our 6 amazing individuals grew so much as a team and as performers. They had an undefeated season and are the 2025 SJVCGPR SRA Champions!!! Favorite highlights were watching each individual become more confident and electric during each performance.
CN Winter Percussion - This year, the Winter Percussion ensemble again made improvements in their commitment to the group and their commitment to excellence. My highlight of the season was the improvement of our tenor and bass sections of the drumline this season.
CN Jazz Band - Received unanimous superiors at the Tulare, SJV, and Fresno City Jazz Festivals. My highlight of the semester has been hearing the band get tighter and more in sync with each other.
2025 Spring Band Concert

Please join us on Wednesday for our spring concert. We will be celebrating all of our concert ensembles, handing out some GR Band awards, followed by some CN Concert Band and Wind Ensemble music. You do not want to miss this!!!
We have an amazing choir at CNEC led by one of the most amazing teachers and musicians I know, Mrs. Bishop. Mrs. Bishop and I have worked together for 24 years. I am so happy to feature her in a performance of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
Awards Banquet

The 2024-25 CNEC Band & Color Guard Awards Banquet reservations due date is tomorrow, Friday, May 9.
We hope ALL our CN students and family members will join us to celebrate the close of our school year on Friday, May 16, at our annual awards banquet. We will have dinner prepared by Cool Hand Luke’s, followed by recognizing some important volunteers, outstanding student musicians, and we will congratulate and celebrate our senior band and color guard members who will be off to new and amazing things in the coming months. It is a great end of the year celebration. Again, we hope you won’t miss out on this event.

Summer 2025 Dates Announced

We are well on the way to preparing for the new school year and our summer events. We have a printed-out fall calendar that we will be sending out shortly. Dates will start to arrive on the CutTime Event Calendar. We will be working on instrument check in/check out, music collection, sizing for gloves in the fall.
Parent Help Needed
We have lots of positions for parent volunteer help for the summer and the upcoming school year. Immediate need is a duo or trio willing to organize our fireworks booth for the summer. This does not need to be one person doing ALL the work. A few people to help organize, then a team to implement, will be the trick to getting this thing done.
If you are interested, please contact Robin Wilson, Mr. Rogers, or Mr. Lesser and we can all get headed in the right direction.
