From the Director’s Desk

We had a very exciting Saturday at Clovis West for our first SJVCGPR Competition of the season.  Congratulations to our Varsity and JV Winter Guards for finishing first place in their class.  Our CN Winter Percussion ensemble had its best first performance in quite some time, and our Granite Ridge ensembles are doing a great job.

Tomorrow, Wednesday 01.29 @ 7:00pm, is our CN Area Band Articulation Concert where we feature all of our prospective Bronco Band Members.

Please make sure spring pledge forms are completed by this Friday and make sure to get your crab feed tickets.  You don’t want to miss out on this enjoyable evening supporting our students and programs.

Crab Feed

Here is a link to purchase tickets to attend our annual crab feed fundraiser:

Please share this with friends, family, people who like crab, colleagues etc.  Let’s work to make this year’s fundraiser the biggest one ever!

Wind Ensemble

We had a great rehearsal last night.  We should be getting our final selection for our festivals this week.  Please be prepared for concert band camp next weekend where we will welcome Mr. Richard Saucedo as our guest clinician.  Mr. Saucedo is a good friend to the band and is one of our nation’s finest music educators and composers.  We are grateful for his time and dedication to our students.

We will be assigning hotel rooms for our Long Beach trip today.  It was confirmed yesterday that we will stop at Santa Monica High School on the way to Long Beach to have a chance to rehearse and share our music with the students of Santa Monica High School.  If you are not familiar with them, they have a storied history of being one of our state’s finest band programs.

Color Guard

What a great first performance from both of our groups.  Things are coming together nicely.  Our Varsity group improves at every rehearsal.  You should see or hear regular practice at home on fundamentals, especially focusing on dance and weapon tossing.

Our JV guard did a great job last Saturday.  They had an eye-opening experience realizing that during the fall they may be overlooked or overshadowed by ALL the people on the field.  But the closer you get in a gym… there is no hiding.  😀  We are looking forward to seeing their growth as performers over the next few months.

Concert Band

Concert Band has been making big strides in the last week of rehearsals! We are moving from learning notes and rhythms to tuning, phrasing, and style. Thank you for your continued push toward excellence. I think this is setting us up great for our Concert Band camp on the weekend of February 7.  Please make sure to review the schedule on Cut Time for that weekend. Attendance is extremely important!!
