From the Director’s Desk
Two thirds of the show is on the field. Lots to improve on but excited to be getting closer to the first full run-through.
Thanks to everyone for bearing the heat of a Saturday football game last week. We are proud to be part of the Bronco Spirit tradition that leads the way in creating a great atmosphere for school events.
I want to encourage everyone to continue to practice regularly outside of school as well as attend your lunchtime or after-school sectionals
STANDARD OF THE WEEK
"Work as a Team!"
We are only as strong as our weakest link. I have been happy to see lots of support for our newer members. Now we need EVERYONE to pull their own individual weight to make sure the WE is stronger than the ME.
Our performances are dependent on students being physically and mentally engaged.
Showing comprehension by passing playing tests, and having complete dot books are very important to being a great team member with the band. Even though students get individual scores for their playing tests, the overall group gets stronger because everyone is confident on their part.
Focusing on your individual responsibilities, (music and guard work learned, drill spots, and visual responsibilities understood) is the most effective way to be a positive contributing team member. Checking in on one another, offering positive encouragement, and perseverance is our strongest way to function as a solid team at this point in the season.

All State Auditions and Recordings
We hope many of our students are working to audition for the All-State Bands this year. With the All-State Weekend earlier than ever, audition recordings are due in 2 weeks. Please prepare to make your recordings and submit them on October 8. We will meet today to set up your profiles on the CASMEC website.
2nd ANNUAL BAND MOVIE NIGHT
This Friday September 27 @ 6pm in the band room will be our 2nd band movie night!!! We invite every band and color guard member to join us. We will be watching the Disney hit, Miracle! which is about the 1980 USA Hockey Team.
For this one night only we will allow food and drink in the band room if you bring blankets to put down on the carpet. We hope to make this a well attended fun event for our members this year.
Senior Night
Friday, October 11 at our football game against Clovis High School we will be honoring our senior band and color guard members and families. Please be on the lookout for some forms that will need to be completed and returned to the office so we are able to make this a memorable evening for our families.
Football Parking Fundraiser
Friday, October 11 we have the chance to earn some easy money for the band program. We have the opportunity to run the parking lot at the football game. Due to this being the same night as our senior recognition night, we ask that non-senior parents volunteer for this event. Please check CutTime for volunteer slots. We need six volunteers to help from 5:00 - 7:30pm.
Grading Period
The six-week grading period ends this week. We want all our students in band and color guard to receive an “A”. Please make sure students are keeping up to date with passing playing assignments to ensure they have the highest grade possible. Attendance is also the other largest contributing factor to why you might not be receiving an “A” in band or PE Band.
GSTOB
Golden State Tournament of Bands is one of the longest-running high school marching band competitions in California. We have the privilege of being one of the hosts of this event along with Clovis HS, Clovis West HS, and Clovis East HS. We have some responsibilities and volunteer slots that will need to be filled to help run this event. It is also a fundraiser for our program. We average about $3000.00 earned for helping to host this event. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities on CutTime next week.
