From the Director’s Desk
Last week we had a great time visiting our Elementary Schools. The cheers and joy when the flags went up and the band played loud really made the day exciting for all our area elementary students.
This week is Granite Ridge Band Night at the football game! We are looking forward to our GR Symphonic Band and Color Guard joining us at the football game this Friday. We are hoping to perform all of part one of the field show marching and playing this Friday during halftime. Please remember to look at the schedule for the correct uniform items and itinerary.
Check CutTime events for the itinerary and what the uniform is.
You must wear the appropriate attire under your uniforms
Make sure to have your flip folder and lyre with music in the stands
There were many students without their music. This negatively impacts the quality of the group. Please remember to do all you need to do to make us the best we can be.
Let's Raise Some Dough

"Do Your Job"
We are well into learning the field show we are learning all the physical, mental, and musical demands it takes to be a successful performer. To be the best performer possible each member needs to do more than just “show up”. Here is a short list of many of the things you need to do to be able to say you are doing your job as a member of the CN Bronco Band.
Prior to rehearsal:
Memorize Music
Memorize Drill sets this includes:
page number
measure numbers
Counts
coordinate on the field (side to side, front to back)
Have music at rehearsal
Have drill at rehearsal
Have instrument in good working condition
Have dot book filled out
Bring water to every rehearsal
Blue painters tape to mark drill spots
Wear appropriate clothes, light colors, athletic shoes, sunscreen
During rehearsal
Be on time
Follow rehearsal procedures
At end of set “FREEZE”
Adjust form properly
Run back to sets
When not playing count out loud as a group
Remember when to apply +1 & -1 during rehearsal reps
Maintaining focus, strong posture
Give best effort every repetition
End of rehearsal
Celebrate small victories
Take stock in what you need to do in practice before next rehearsal
Make time to pass off all playing tests in timely manner
Ask section leaders, drum majors, or band staff for help if you don’t understand something
Be proud to be a BRONCO!!!
Picture Day
Picture day was a success. Be on the lookout for a link to be able to order group, section, and individual pictures online from Kenny Gilman Photography.
Football Game Attendance
We are thankful to have strong attendance at football games from our band parents and families. It has been brought to my attention from the Athletic Department that last season and last week there were band parents who suggested they were supposed to attend the football game without purchasing a ticket. Everyone attending the football game except for student participants, band chaperones, and pit crew must purchase a ticket to attend football games. Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter.
Music Tests & Pass-off
Makeups have begun for the Fight Song and National Anthem. Students retesting are doing a good job passing off the two pieces. The next things to be tested for wind players will be...
Nexxus Part 1 Sat 9/14
Nexxus Part 2 Mon 9/23
All State Auditions and Recordings
We hope many of our students are working to audition for the All-State Bands this year. With the All-State Weekend earlier than ever, audition recordings are due in 4 weeks. Please prepare to make your recordings and submit them on October 8, 2024. We will meet next week to set up your profiles on the CASMEC website.
Concert Attire
Our fall concert is scheduled for Wednesday, October 23, 2024. We hope to see all of our families in attendance. Stay tuned for more info about the fall concert. Students will need the proper attire for this concert.
It is the following:
Boys: Black suit or tuxedo, white long-sleeve dress shirt, black bow tie, black dress socks, black dress shoes (marching band shoes are acceptable for this).
Girls: Black dress pants or slacks, black blouse or sweater, black stockings/socks, black dress shoes (flats)
Don’t forget to join us the last 30 minutes of our Tuesday night rehearsals.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!
Have a great rest of your week!
